Freeman Summer Stage Series

June 20th officially began our Summer Stage Series at the future site of the Joshua M. Freeman Center for the Arts at Bayside in Fenwick Island.  This summer-long series of concerts, movies and arts focused educational events will take place on the newly constructed outdoor stage at Bayside.  As a way of preparing the community for the eventual arrival of the Joshua M. Freeman Center for the Arts we will offer free events throughout the summer, and each week will include:

Thursday 7:00pm:  Family Night
Friday 7:00pm:  Music on the Green
Saturday at 10:00am:   Children’s Hour
Saturday at 8:30pm:  Movies on the Green

You’ll have a chance to see it all! Live performances by the Mid-Atlantic Symphony, Delmarva Big Band, Mythica Celtic Band, Pam Miller Band and more. Live productions of South Pacific and Einstein’s Breakfast. Great movies under the stars including Shrek, Kicking and Screaming, Hairspray…plus comedy, storytelling and the visual arts.

So, pull out your blankets and picnic baskets and grab your friends. We are looking forward to having a great and artsy summer with you. Call our Summer Stage hotline at 302.436.3015 or check out the calendar for the latest information on what’s showing at the stage.

Begun in 2002 under the leadership of General Director Plácido Domingo and the patronage of First Lady Laura Bush, the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program is designed for singers on the verge of international careers, as well as coach-accompanists, directors, and conductors. World-renowned singers, directors, and coaches work with the Young Artists to guide them in their transition from musician to artist and help them build long-lasting and healthy careers.

Now entering its 44th Season, The Choral Arts Society of Washington, under the leadership of its founder and artistic director Norman Scribner, is one of the major symphonic choruses in the United States. Composed of more than 190 professional-caliber volunteer singers, The Choral Arts Society of Washington has sung under the world’s leading orchestra conductors and orchestras, recorded a number of acclaimed CDs, and toured nationally and internationally.  The Chorus is regularly called upon to help inaugurate presidents, honor world leaders, celebrate national holidays, and participate in televised performances.

Enchanting

"The setting for outdoor performances at Bayside is enchanting. The stage is in the center of two wonderlands that capture the attention and imagination of adults and kids alike: in one direction is a beautifully landscaped golf course and in the other stands a full size, brightly colored, carnival carousel that is the centerpiece of a children’s playground."
