Joshua M. Freeman Center for The Arts at Bayside

It was Josh’s dream to create an arts center in Sussex County, Delaware.  Research is underway and the beginning stages of development for the Joshua M. Freeman Center for The Arts at Bayside have begun. This center, located at Bayside near Fenwick Island, will offer theatrical performances and movies.  There will also be space for art, dance and music classes.

We hope you will join us on June 20th at the launch of our Summer Stage Series at the future site of the Joshua M. Freeman Center for the Arts at Bayside in Fenwick Island. To learn more about the Summer Stage Series and the great shows that will be presented this summer, contact Patti Grimes or take a look at our sponsorship opportunities!

Josh's Kids

One of Josh's many interests was athletic achievement, and he was particularly devoted to athletic possibilities for children.  As a tribute and memorial to Josh, Lincoln Holdings LLC, the ownership group of the NHL’s Washington Capitals and WNBA’s Washington Mystics created Josh's Kids, a program that will make available 250 seats for every Capitals game and donate them to a youth-oriented charity or school in the Washington, D.C., area.  For more information, please see the Capitals' website.

Joshua M. Freeman Center for Athletic Achievement at Landon

Joshua M. Freeman Center for Athletic Achievement LogoThe Carl M. Freeman Foundation supported the development of the Joshua M. Freeman Center for Athletic Achievement at Landon.  Josh was an alumnus of the Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland – as well as a Landon parent and Board member.  Landon School was a very special place for Josh and the Freeman family and this gift continues Josh’s legacy and represents his passion for personal development and physical challenges through athletics.  This state-of-the-art fitness facility is scheduled for completion in early 2008.

A Visionary Leader

“Josh Freeman’s commitment to the environment, open space and its proper care made him a visionary and leader in Sussex County.  He was truly a steward of the land, and we’re only sorry that he is no longer with us to continue his good work.”

Creating a Legacy at Landon

“As we work together over the coming months to build the [Joshua M. Freeman Center for Athletic Achievement], we do so much more than create a lasting memorial to him.  We will engender in our boys though this new facility a life-long appreciation of the importance of a sound body and a sound mind.  In that way, we change their lives forever.”
