Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia

 Montgomery County, Maryland

  • A Wider Circle
    To support the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program, which collects donated furniture and distributes it to families in need.
  • Arts for the Aging
    To provide 10 months of weekly programming at the nonprofit Rockville Nursing Home in 2009, which enables cognitively and physically impaired seniors to engage in regular creative workshops.
  • Big Learning
    To fund Knowledge Builder, a cutting-edge research-based after-school academic enrichment program, to at-risk children, and pilot test evaluation methods and teacher support materials.
  • Books, Bear, & Bonnets
    To create and deliver 100 gift boxes to individuals fighting cancer.
  • CourageCollages
    To enable fifteen cancer patients and survivors to attend a two day, one night retreat reflect on their cancer journey, tap into their creative resources, and envision their futures.
  • Greencastle Elementary School
    To support the Student Opera Company, where students build their own opera company by taking on the roles of their adult opera company counterparts to create, produce and perform an original opera.
  • Interages
    To fund Intergenerational Bridges, an after-school mentoring program that pairs senior adults and at risk immigrant children in English for Speakers of Other Languages programs to build relationships that facilitate their growth and learning.
  • Kids Enjoy Exercise Now, Greater DC
    To support KEEN Sports and Club for Teens, which provides exercise, socialization, opportunities for friendship, and trips into the community for teens with disabilities.
  • Montgomery County Association for Hearing Impaired Children
    To provide properly-fitted loaner hearing aids to young children who have been recently diagnosed with a hearing loss and provide educational services to families.
  • Olney Community Band
    To support the 2009 Concert Series and help present affordable concerts to diverse crowds. 
  • Silver Spring Interfaith Housing Coalition
    To provide a childcare stipend to single mothers participating in job training to fill the gap during the 30-45 day lag period in which they would be without childcare while awaiting childcare vouchers and services.
  • Through the Kitchen Door International
    To conduct healthy food demonstrations at 5 or more community health fairs in Montgomery County during 2009, teaching techniques that help prevent obesity and diabetes.

Sussex County, Delaware

  • Catholic Charities
    To maintain and sustain a brown bag food cooperative program and emergency pantry to distribute food to needy residents of Sussex County.
  • Clear Space Productions
    To subsidize the cost of 720 student matinee tickets to enable students to attend Clear Space's production of Arthur Miller's The Crucible.
  • Frankford Elementary School
    To fund the PAL Mentoring Program, which supports children's needs in the areas of language arts and mathematics, while creating lasting relationships between community volunteer mentors and students.
  • La Esperanza
    To support the prenatal  care support service which provides pregnant Hispanic women and their children access to quality health care, education, and assistance.
  • Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra Society
    To supplement artists fees and technical support for concerts in Ocean View. 
  • Sussex Central High School
    To install a piano lab in the Sussex Central High School music department. 
  • Sussex County Habitat for Humanity
    To purchase a forklift for the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, which would provide a means of moving heavy bulky donated items in a safe manner. 
  • Sussex Technical Adult Division
    To support the Even Start Family Literacy Program, which helps improve the literacy skills of low income and low literate families.
  • Trinity Foundation
    To fund the Delaware Youth Leadership Academy, which is designed to enhance the leadership, communication, and social skills of boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 16.
  • West Side New Beginnings Children & Youth Program
    To support the 2008 Summer West Rehoboth Children and Youth Program, which provides structure for promoting literacy and expanding experiences.
