Virginia Allen Freeman 1926 - 2012  

Mrs. Virginia Allen Freeman was born in Irwin, Tennessee to Wert and Mabel Allen.  She grew up in the Appalachian Mountains surrounded by four siblings: Drusilla, Reginald, Linda and Louise.  A coal miners daughter, she dreamed of a better life beyond the town limits of Lynch, Kentucky.  Upon graduating high school she attended Northwestern University and later moved to Washington, DC to attend George Washington University.

In recent weeks, the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation has welcomed 4 new members to its staff at the Selbyville, DE office. Those staff members include Sue Sevier as the new Administrative Associate, Robin Spangenberg as the new Operations Manager, Bernadette Dowling as the new Accounting Manager, and Lucinda Williams as the new Development Director. “We are thrilled to have such a passionate, dedicated group of people join us at the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation,” said Patti Grimes, Executive Director.

Recently, two members of the Joshua M. Freeman Staff attended the APAP (Association of Performing Arts Presenters) conference in New York City. Patti Grimes, Executive Director, and Doug Phillips, Marketing Manager, attended the annual four day conference & expo that also featured hundreds of performance showcases.

The Joshua M. Freeman Foundation and The Freeman Stage at Bayside are proud to present William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” at Delaware Technical Community College on Friday, January 27th, as part of its 2012 Off Stage Series. The 7 p.m. Friday evening performance, performed by the Classical Theatre Project, will be held in the theatre of the Arts & Science Center located on the Owens Campus in Georgetown, Del.
