Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” to be presented at Del-Tech
The Joshua M. Freeman Foundation and The Freeman Stage at Bayside are proud to present William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” at Delaware Technical Community College on Friday, January 27th, as part of its 2012 Off Stage Series. The 7 p.m. Friday evening performance, performed by the Classical Theatre Project, will be held in the theatre of the Arts & Science Center located on the Owens Campus in Georgetown, Del.
Classical Theatre Project's unique approach to entertainment and education sets them apart from other theatre companies across North America. Based in Toronto, CTP is Canada's only classical repertory company dedicated to performing for student audiences. They have proven time and again that Shakespeare can be fun, accessible, and most importantly, inspiring. Since 2001, Classical Theatre Project has entertained and inspired students with the classics. Their shows have ranged from traditional Elizabethan productions to some of the most original and innovative adaptations available to student audiences - all while remaining faithful to the original text.
Musical, interactive and uproariously funny, Classical Theatre Project’s inventive vaudevillian take on Twelfth Night is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare. Five actors undertake eleven roles, astounding students and teachers alike with genuine theatre magic. Twelfth Night remains a relevant commentary on the illusions and delusions of love. Shakespeare uses mistaken identity, love triangles, and a dash of cross-dressing to create one of his most famous plays - and one of literature's best-loved comedies.
This latest event to be held at Delaware Technical Community College is part of a continued partnership between the college and The Freeman Foundations, both of whom are committed to bringing rich cultural experiences to the area while also giving back to their communities. Tickets for the performance of “Twelfth Night” are $10 each for adults, and should be purchased ahead of time at www.freemanstage.org due to an expected large turnout on that evening. Children 18 and under are free. The Owens Campus is conveniently situated at the intersection of Route 113 and Seashore Highway, Route 18/404 in Georgetown, Del.
